And I, anyway, am grasping for ways to help.

Many children who witness violence are threatened by the abuser not to tell anyone, and they don’t. This post is a fascinating piece, not only informative and provocative, but very touching.

Your final paragraph actually brought tears to my eyes. Concerning your question about single mo...Rebecca,

Concerning your question about single moms: Google David Blankenhorn and David Popenoe, and you will find scholarly literature arguing that father absence leads to an increased likelihood of delinquency, crime, and many other ills in children. Many progressive scholars say that their data doesn't hold up, that the children in fatherless families have more problems because those families are more likely to live in poverty and have other disadvantages. I don't believe the debate is resolved, but it's interesting. And important.Paul Raeburnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06850931965720154814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32976534.post-81092895149643361832009-04-07T20:42:00.000-04:002009-04-07T20:42:00.000-04:00My youngest son is 18 now. We do exchange words occasionally. When he's not writing code for computer games. He is quiet, and quite brilliant. I marvel at his ability to devour four micro-waved hot dogs in a row. Right before dinner. And he can still eat with us. I think having a son makes us better women and better wives.Elizabeth Bradleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03150221675618198674noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32976534.post-36823195401515794842009-03-14T11:15:00.000-04:002009-03-14T11:15:00.000-04:00Interesting.
